What’s the GMAT?
The GMAT is the Graduate Management Admissions Test. The GMAT is required by many Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programs for entrance. Other graduate programs such as accounting, economics, and finance may require this test as well. Students should check with each of the programs they are applying to and ask what exams are required. The official GMAT site is mba.com.

How do I sign up for the GMAT?
Students may register on mba.com. Students should use the exact name that appears on their government-issued I.D. when creating an account on this site. This site will show the closest locations, times, dates, and availability of the test.
What’s a good GMAT score?
Each graduate program has it’s own requirements and rankings of a good GMAT score. Students should check with each of the programs they are applying to and ask the minimum and average scores for entrance. They should also ask if the programs weigh any sections of the exam more heavily, and if any sections of the exam are not required.
You will receive five separate scores. Your essay and integrated reasoning scores are independent and have no effect on your combined quantitative and verbal scores.

What’s on the GMAT?
There are four sections of the GMAT. You will be given options of the order you would like to take your test. There will be two 8-minute breaks during the exam.
Section 1: Essay (30 minutes)
Analysis of Argument
Section 2: Integrated Reasoning (30 minutes, 12 questions)
This section combines verbal and quantitative skills. Many of the questions are charts and graphs similar to real-life situations in business.
Section 3: Quantitative (62 minutes, 31 questions)
There are two types of math questions, problem solving and data sufficiency. Both types of questions test the following areas of math.

These sections will be either a verbal or quantitative section. There will be two verbal, two quantitative, and a mystery section that will be either verbal or quantitative. The mystery section will not count, but the questions may be used to create future tests or for research. The order of the sections will be random. There will be a 10-minute break after the third section.
