GMAT FAQ

What is the GMAT?

The GMAT is the Graduate Management Admissions Test. Students who are interested in a Masters of Business Administration degree (graduate business school) are usually required to take this entrance test. Some other graduate programs such as accounting, economics, or finance may require this degree as well. Students should check with the programs of each graduate school they are interested in and ask what tests they require, the minimum and average scores, if they weigh any sections of the test more heavily, and if they don’t require any sections of the test.

What GMAT score do I need to enter into the graduate program I am applying to?

Students should call the graduate programs they are applying to and speak with a recruiter about the minimum and average scores required to enter into the program. Some programs will offer a scholarship for students who achieve high scores. Students should also ask if there are certain sections of the test the schools weigh more heavily and if they don’t require any sections of the test. If the essay portion of the test is to be omitted, students should not write anything in the text box. If the integrated reasoning portion of the test is not required, the student will still have to answer every question to move on to the next test section. Skipping any portion of the test will not give a student more time on the other sections.
